Herschel Scientists presenting results

Herschel Scientists are meeting at ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Centre) to present the first science results from Herschel.  The full scientific analysis of the data is well underway, and the results are astonishing.  Some of the images will be released later this week (watch this space!), and the scientific papers will be published in a matter of weeks.

The results, from the atmospheres of planets to the distribution of distant galaxies, are an excellent indication of the power of the Herschel satellite.  These are also the first proper results from HIFI, the spectrometer which was turned back on in January after a few months offline.  A release of a few of the images will follow later this week, with the presentations made available online later - hopefully next week.

UPDATE: Presentations are now available online at the Herschel Science Centre website
